Life begins at 40, and as you probably know, 40 is the new 30. Despite the fact that age is indeed just a number, one certainty in life that we could all do without, is growing older and showing the ill-effects of aging. Whilst some people do indeed embrace aging, when it comes to your appearance, if you want to stay looking youthful and healthy, you do need to work a little harder. Whether it’s burning off a few more calories in the gym, or perhaps spending a little longer exfoliating your face in the shower, if you do put in the work, you can shave years off of your appearance and you can reap the rewards. Here are some beauty tips for women over 40, as we look at natural ways for you to shave years off of your appearance.
Cleanse, tone, and moisturize – One of the worst things about growing older is the lines and wrinkles in your face. As we grow older, our skin loses its elasticity, which in turn can lead to lines and wrinkles. Lines and wrinkles cause us to look old, and can cause some of us to look old before our time. To help you keep your skin looking youthful and healthy, we recommend that you follow what is known as the CTM routine. This is the Cleanse, Tone, and Moisturize routine. Following this routine will help to ensure your skin remains free of dirt, grime, and oil, and it will allow your pores to breathe. Not only that, but it will keep it soft and supple, which will help it to look and feel soft, healthy, and youthful.
Exfoliate – As far as helping to keep the wrinkles and dry skin at bay, one of the best things you can do to keep your skin soft and healthy is to regularly exfoliate. Exfoliating the skin will remove dead skin cells and encourage the regeneration of new ones to take the dead ones’ place. The more healthy skin cells you have, the softer, smoother, and healthier your skin will be.
Eat right and use supplements – When it comes to your skin, your hair, and your appearance in general, eating a healthy and balanced diet is one of the best things you can do to roll back the years. People that have eaten diets primarily consisting of processed junk food often look old and unhealthy. On the flip side, people that eat healthy foods and use health supplements often have healthy-looking hair and skin that literally glows. Eat plenty of healthy fats, proteins, and fresh vegetables loaded full of vitamins and minerals, and don’t forget your supplements.
Stay hydrated – Again, forget drinking full-sugar beverages or sodas sweetened with artificial chemical sweeteners, as these can cause oxidative stress and damage to your cells, including the skin cells, which in turn will result in lines, wrinkles, soft and saggy skin, and dry, dull, and lifeless hair. Instead, drink plenty of fresh water each day and be sure to stay hydrated. Staying hydrated is essential for health and well-being and it will work wonders as far as your appearance goes as well. Drinking water will help to flush harmful toxins from your body, keeping you fit and healthy on the inside, which shows on the outside. Aim for 8 – 10 glasses per day.
